Work / Knight Frank

One data and integration platform, three products

I led the design and delivery of a multi-source Azure platform that gives Knight Frank’s products a shared data, integration and mapping foundation. Three products were built on it.

Context

Instead of each product carrying its own pipelines, database, search and map stack, the platform provides them once: ingestion, a canonical data model, search, APIs and geospatial serving, deployed the same way across every environment.

The platform

  1. Bruin and Python ETL pipelines that take every dataset through raw, staging, intermediate and canonical layers.
  2. Liquibase-managed schema migrations on PostgreSQL with PostGIS.
  3. A geospatial serving stack: PostGIS, the Martin vector-tile server and MapLibre GL.
  4. Containerised infrastructure in Bicep: Azure Container Apps, Hasura GraphQL, OpenSearch and API Management, deployed across multiple environments.

Built on the platform

Each product reuses the platform’s pipelines, canonical model, search and mapping components rather than building its own.

Lease expiry

Ingests the full HM Land Registry leasehold dataset (~5.8M live leases, ~2GB monthly snapshots) and visualises lease-expiry exposure across England and Wales through a 5-tier level-of-detail pipeline. SCD2 history tracking, EPC and VOA enrichment through a UPRN, postcode and fuzzy-address matching cascade, and ArchiMate architecture packs approved at the Architecture Review Board.

  • MapLibre
  • ArchiMate

Sanctions screening

Integrates the OFAC, EU, UK and UN sanctions lists (8GB+ of data) into a canonical entity model, built on the platform’s ETL and search components, for compliance screening across the business.

  • OpenSearch
  • Python

Development scheme management

A Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript and Hasura GraphQL application for living-sectors teams tracking Build-to-Rent, Student and Seniors Housing schemes, with interactive maps, 30+ column data grids, embedded Dynamics 365 CRM and Azure AD (MSAL) role-based access.
